Strengthening Service Delivery Through Proactive Risk Management
The State Department of Public Works held a workshop at Naivasha which started on 28th April,2025. The workshop agenda was to develop a Risk Management Policy and also focus on empowering the Directorates. In attendance were the Risk Champions and the Risk Management Steering Committee members. This intensive training and development initiative was facilitated by trainers from The National Treasury and is a significant step forward in the ongoing commitment to enhance service delivery to clients and citizens that depend on our services. The workshop was officially opened by Dr. Sammy Kimungunyi, Internal Auditor General - The National Treasury.
Over the course of the workshop, the Risk Champions, representing each Directorate, actively engaged in the development of a robust risk policy tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities within the department. A key outcome of this collaborative effort was the creation of comprehensive risk registers. These registers meticulously identify potential risks that could impede our ability to effectively deliver essential services.
By proactively identifying and analyzing these potential challenges, the participants are now better equipped to implement targeted mitigation strategies. This forward-thinking approach will allow the State Department to minimize disruptions, ensure the continuity of critical services, and ultimately provide a more reliable and efficient experience for clients and the general public.
The outcomes of this workshop, particularly the newly developed risk registers and the strengthened risk policy, will contribute significantly to a more seamless and effective delivery of services to all citizens.
